Infected by guitaritus …

It was once again time for me to change the strings of my acoustic guitar. I laid the guitar on the table in front of me, threaded in the high ‘E’ string, and began to tune it gently. I was very close to the ‘E’ sound, when suddenly it snapped – PING!!!The string had broken exactly on the bridge and the end whipped into me. I felt a prick in my hand, and looked carefully – the end of the string had stuck in my hand! After the first shock, I realized that I couldn’t feel anything…

When I look back, everything is clear: on this momentous day I had been incurably infected by GUITARITUS. Even though it wasn’t fatal, I feel it every day and with every fibre of my being.

My daily dose of guitar playing increased gradually, just like with every form of addiction. Inevitably, I began to be interested in how electric guitar sounds are produced. And so, more than anything, I needed an electric guitar …
